As part of our ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability, the Green Team is excited to announce that The Big Plastic Count 2025 is approaching. This nationwide initiative empowers individuals and organisations to track their plastic waste over a week, providing valuable data to combat plastic pollution. Results from the 2024 count revealed that UK households dispose of 1.7 billion pieces of plastic waste each week.

Global Recycling Day - 18th March 2025
With Global Recycling Day also coming up on March 18th, now is the perfect time to explore ways to reduce waste and improve recycling habits. A great way to get started is by using recycling reward apps, which help users recycle correctly and even earn incentives for doing so.
- Plovie
Bower is a free app that incentivises recycling by allowing users to earn rewards for correctly disposing of waste. Users can scan barcodes or use image recognition to identify materials, then recycle them at registered bins to earn points. These points can be redeemed for cash, coupons, or donations to charity.
- Recycle at Boots (Scan2Recycle)
Boots has partnered with Scan2Recycle to reward customers for recycling hard-to-recycle beauty, health, and wellness product packaging. By using the Recycle at Boots app, users can scan eligible items and drop them off at participating Boots stores to receive rewards.
- Scrapp
Scrapp is a digital tool designed to support zero-waste goals. It helps individuals and organisations track waste footprints, educate users on proper recycling methods, and incentivise sustainable behaviour. It has a great feature where users can scan the barcode of a product and the app will confirm if the product is recyclable or not.
- Tesco Clubcard Recycling Initiatives
Tesco Clubcard holders can boost their points by participating in recycling programmes. For example, recycling inkjet cartridges through Tesco’s partner earns 125 points per cartridge, which can be redeemed for shopping discounts or reward partner offers.
