Summer Vacation Scheme

Due to the current COVID 19 crisis we are putting all our recruitment, summer vacation, work experience and apprenticeship opportunities at Roythornes on hold until further notice. This is a very uncertain time for us all and this decision was a difficult one for Roythornes, as we pride ourselves on our record for providing high standard opportunities for both careers and training.

We hope we will be able to provide a clear position as to when we can continue with our recruitment and work experience activities very soon. We are all working hard to make this happen, as soon as we can. We look forward to welcoming applications from those who want to be part of our team, we just will not be able to move forward with these at the moment.

In the meantime, on behalf of all of us at Roythornes we wish you all the best for keeping safe and well.

One of the best ways to find out what it’s like to train at Roythornes is to secure a place on one of our annual summer vacation schemes. We offer a small number of two-week placements at our Spalding office each July. These are aimed at those of you who are currently in the second or third year of your degree, or who have completed a degree and are about to start either an LPC or a conversion course.

The placements are designed to give you a realistic impression of life as a trainee solicitor.  You will spend time in up to three different departments, carrying out live work supervised by solicitors and often partners. We would certainly encourage anyone who is looking to apply for a training contract with Roythornes to apply to our summer vacation scheme.

Depending on what’s happening firm-wide during your placement, there will be opportunities to attend seminars, meetings and external events. In recent years our work experience students attended a conference with Counsel in London, visited a launch by a government minister of a major farming report and attended court with our Litigation team.

For 2020 placements, you need to apply by 30 April 2020. To make the most of the opportunity you will need to be fully available for the first two weeks of July 2020.
