Thomas is currently in the third seat of his Training Contract, working across the Private Client and Private Wealth Disputes teams in our Birmingham office.
His first seat was in the Spalding Commercial Property department, where he gained experience acting for corporate occupiers and investors, dealing with landlord and tenant matters, and acting for both lenders and borrowers on commercial and agricultural secured finance transactions.
For his second seat, Thomas worked in the Spalding Private Client team, working on a wide range of matters, primarily for agricultural clients, in tax and succession planning, trust administration, preparation of Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney and estate administration, assisted by his previous experience in property law.
As part of the Roythornes bursary scheme, Thomas had undertaking work experience with the firm between terms at university. He completed his law degree at the University of Nottingham and joined the firm as a Commercial Property paralegal in 2019, before moving into the Estates team for several years. He took a year away from the Roythornes in 2022 to study his LPC MSc in Law, Business and Management at the University of Law (Manchester), graduating with a Distinction before returning in October 2023 as a Real Estate paralegal, assisting primarily with residential development matters and plot sales, before beginning his training contract in September 2024.
