Julie is a highly experienced Legal Director in our Living team, based at our Langham office. She specialises in complex residential, mixed-use and strategic land development projects, acting for landowners, developers, land promoters and registered providers. With many years’ experience in land acquisition, disposals, development and planning, Julie brings deep technical expertise and a pragmatic commercial approach to every transaction.

Julie has a strong track record in delivering major residential schemes, urban extensions and regeneration projects across the UK. She is particularly skilled in navigating the complexities of strategic land, working with landowners, promoters, housebuilders and registered providers to facilitate the delivery of large scale development sites.

Her expertise covers hybrid option agreements, promotion agreements, standard options, conditional contracts, collaboration agreements and joint ventures. Julie is known for her ability to manage multi-party structures, streamline negotiations and anticipate commercial and planning challenges before they arise.

Recent Development Work

  • Acting for a consortium of more than 10 landowners on a promotion agreement, collaboration agreement and pooling arrangements enabling the delivery of a site for 7,500+ new homes
  • Advising on a collaboration between a national housebuilder and a commercial development partner entering into a hybrid option agreement with multiple landowners to promote a site for 1,000+ residential units
  • Acting for a county council on the disposal of a major mixed-use site in East Anglia for approximately 1,150 new homes and associated commercial units

Julie also has extensive experience in affordable housing delivery, acting for registered providers, local authorities and housebuilders. Her work includes negotiating turnkey development agreements, golden brick land and build agreements, Homes England Build Leases and bulk portfolio disposals.

She is particularly adept at transactions involving Homes England funding, complex equalisation arrangements and sensitive overage mechanisms, ensuring clients’ interests are protected while supporting the delivery of high quality affordable homes.

Recent Affordable Housing Work

  • Acting for a registered provider within a consortium of landowners granting an option to a national promoter, including supporting the local planning authority in securing Homes England infrastructure grants and advising on complex equalisation and overage matters
  • Advising on and completing the grant of a Homes England Build Lease (under a conditional contract subject to planning) for the delivery of a significant number of affordable homes as part of a major urban redevelopment scheme on the outskirts of Bristol
