Catherine is Head of Debt Recovery at Roythornes, leading the team in advising a wide range of clients on the recovery of debts, disputed sums and enforcement action.
A Chartered Legal Executive and CILEx Litigator and Advocate, Catherine also works in our Commercial Litigation team, and acts in a variety of civil matters, having extensive experience in debt recovery, dispute resolution, commercial and general litigation. She also specialises in insolvency matters, including issuing statutory demands and presenting winding up and bankruptcy petitions.
Her work covers both bringing and defending claims, and she is known for her pragmatic and commercially focused approach. Catherine manages large-scale debt recovery portfolios and supports clients in assessing prospects of success, resolving disputes cost-effectively and recovering sums owed.
Recent work includes:
- Managing a portfolio debt of over £800,000 on behalf of a loan company
- Bringing and defending claims for faulty goods and services not fit for purpose
- Acting in civil recovery claims for unjust enrichment
- Energy disputes
- Advising on and defending set aside judgment applications
- Negotiating a payment plan for rent arrears and the terms of a new lease
- Recovering estate agents’ commission fees
- Facilitating the removal of a charging order where the creditor could not be traced
- Recovering approximately £18,000 from an estate in the agricultural sector without the need for legal proceedings
Catherine joined Roythornes in 2018, having qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2015 after studying with the CILEx Law School. Before joining the firm, she worked in private practice, specialising in civil litigation and contract law.
