Sarah Banner (1979 - 2020)
It is with great sadness that I need to let you know that Sarah Banner sadly passed away on Sunday, 19 January 2020.
For a number of years she had had various treatments to combat an aggressive form of malignant melanoma (skin cancer). As she put it herself, she felt she had been incredibly lucky to have dodged many bullets since her first diagnosis in 2014. So when she received the devastating news in January last year that her disease had again spread, it came as a shock to her, and indeed to us all, particularly as early feedback was that she had been responding well to treatment and the outlook was positive.
Despite ceasing work at that time, her positivity and resilience continued to confound consultants and colleagues alike, and it kept all our hopes alive that she would be able to pull through. In the latter part of last year, however, she had a further setback and her condition badly deteriorated. She passed away peacefully with her husband at her bedside.
Sarah joined Roythornes as a partner in November 2015, in our Private Client department and immediately made a great impact on our business, delighting all those she worked alongside with her jovial approach and sense of humour. We will all remember her liveliness and exuberance. Whilst her death is incredibly sad and difficult for the team here at Roythornes to come to terms with, she would be the first to tick any of us off if she felt we were not appreciating all that is positive, embracing opportunities as they arise and living life to the full. We will all do our best to make her proud.
Our thoughts are with her husband, Alex, and her family. She will be greatly missed.
Should you wish to attend Sarah’s funeral, we will be posting details on this webpage soon. The family are seeing the funeral as an opportunity to celebrate Sarah’s life. They would appreciate everyone to wear an item of clothing that is red, as this was Sarah’s favourite colour. Rather than flowers they would ask that donations be made to their chosen charities, more details of which will also follow.
