Over 60 business leaders from across the UK attended an event focusing on websites and trading online.
The seminar, organised by Roythornes Solicitors well-respected Corporate and Commercial team aimed to highlight some of the key elements businesses should take account of when operating an ecommerce business and creating the trading website, in particular in relation to the legal requirements. Not having the right terms in place can lead businesses into tricky situations with regard to returning products, delivery charges and consumer rights.
Speaking about the event, Roythornes’ Julia Seary said:
“It was great to see so many businesses represented. Many businesses focus on how the website will be perceived by the public without thinking about how and when they may be forming contracts with the consumers who buy goods and services from them.”
The seminar attracted both large and small businesses, demonstrating how the various rules and regulations affect all firms from sole traders to large multinational corporations. Julia commented:
“Whatever size of business you are, it is likely that you will have a website and possibly trade online, and it is so important to make sure that the website works for your business and doesn’t open you up to unintended risks. Vital to this is having the correct legal provisions in place and judging by the reaction of delegates it is something that more businesses will be paying attention to.”
