Mock Disciplinary Hearing draws the crowds

Over 130 delegates from as far away as Birmingham packed into Peterborough’s Kingsgate Conference Centre on Tuesday to witness a Mock Disciplinary Hearing staged by leading lawyers Roythornes.

The event, in which members of Roythornes employment law team took the leading roles, saw an ‘employee’ facing allegations of theft and misuse of company vehicles, and showed the hearing that his employers held to investigate the matter.

Once the hearing had taken place, delegates had the time to discuss in groups how they would handle the situation before partner Phil Cookson gave an overview of some of they key issues it raised.  This was followed by solicitor Maz Dannourah who summarised the main principles of disciplinary hearings.

Speaking about the event Marketing Manager Mark Dodds said:

“There was a good atmosphere and having the hearing acted out in front of the audience gives a real insight into some of the procedures to follow and pitfalls to avoid.”

The event follows on from an equally successful Mock Employment Tribunal the firm held last year.

Mark continued:

“The feedback from the delegates has been very positive and I’m sure we will be running similar events in the future.”
