Food leaders gather to hear from MD of British Sugar

Over 100 leaders from the food and drink industry gathered at the Allia Future Business Centre in Peterborough for Roythornes Solicitors’ Food Business Breakfast.

The event gave senior executives from the sector the opportunity to network over breakfast before listening to a keynote speech from Paul Kenward, managing director of British Sugar.

Peter Seary, partner at Roythornes and host of the Food Business Breakfast, said: “The event this week was a fantastic success. We are based in an area where food and drink is a key sector and therefore a significant contributor to the economy.

“To hear from a leader in the industry such as Paul on how he expects the sector to be affected in coming months was fascinating. Many already know how much British Sugar brings to the East Midlands and East Anglia; to understand the company’s future vision for the region alongside how they plan to manage the organisation around the anticipated changes was enlightening.

 “It was particularly interesting to hear that British Sugar is also a large power generator and that it takes steps to recycle by-products such as aggregate and soil.”

Sharing his opinion on the event Paul Kenward said: “It was great to have the opportunity to share the British Sugar story with this audience. I also believe it’s really important for the food and drink businesses from across our region to keep on coming together to discuss such important issues. Events like this are an excellent way of doing this.”
