I applied for a training contract as a paralegal via the firm’s internal training contract route, so I’d already worked out the high calibre of solicitors at the firm and the top-quality work that they do for their longstanding clients. I had also already experienced fantastic support given to me by my supervisors for my future career ambitions and I knew that the work-life balance would be a reality, not just a promise.

I really enjoyed my first seat in the Corporate and Commercial department. There is a great variety of interesting work available and the perfect balance between supervision and responsibility. The partners both trained at Magic Circle firms and, having also worked in-house, are highly practical and commercially-minded. Their expertise is echoed in the solicitors that make up the rest of the team; all of whom are extremely supportive and willing to share their knowledge and expertise with the trainees. I was genuinely sad to leave the Corporate and Commercial team, where I learnt so much, but I am excited for the new challenge of my second seat in the Commercial Property department.

As a trainee there is plenty of opportunity to get involved in a variety of the firm’s networking events, as well as to attend regular training sessions, participate in various committees, and engage in social activities with other young professionals.
