Leading law firm Roythornes has been awarded a green Investors in the Environment (iiE) accreditation - the highest available recognition from the scheme - for its commitment to sustainability and reducing its impact on the environment.
As part of a stringent auditing process, Roythornes were highly commended on a number of points including senior management prioritisation of environmental performance and support, almost halving its carbon footprint since baseline year - with close to 11% reduction over the past year - and engaging suppliers that offset carbon logged from fuel cards and confidential waste recyclers to plant trees.
Ann Barrasso, operations and support manager for Roythornes, said: “We are very proud to have achieved the highest iiE standard for the fourth consecutive year in recognition of everything the firm, as well as all of our team, does to support the environment.
“Achieving the award involved many internal initiatives, including planting over 1,000 bulbs at our Spalding office, increasing recycling facilities within the offices and participating in the Zero Waste Week.
“It is important that we all do our bit to be greener and something as simple as recycling the papers on our desks rather than simply throwing them in the bin can make a huge difference in the long run. A few of the departments have decided to go paperlite now and are taking the initiative really seriously.”
Roythornes is one of the UK's leading agricultural law firms and advises farmers and landowners on matters including agricultural land development schemes, renewable energy projects and a number of other environmental issues.
Ann added, “Achieving this accreditation shows to our team, suppliers and clients that we are actually acting on our environmental pledges, rather than simply saying that we are, and I hope we continue to retain our green certification and build on the progress we have made year-on-year."
Investors in the Environment is a national environmental accreditation scheme designed to help organisations save time and money, reduce their impact on the environment, and get promoted for their green credentials.
