Discipline and Retirement on the agenda
The tricky problem of handling disciplinary issues in the workplace will come under the spotlight at a seminar being run for the regions employers by Roythornes Solicitors.
‘Discipline, Dismissals, and Retirement’ will investigate how disciplinary and dismissal situations can arise and how employers should manage them. It will also cover the new Retirement regulations, which have caused confusion amongst some employers.
Speaking about the seminar, Partner Peter Bennett said:
“When disciplinary issues arise in the workplace they have a nasty habit of getting out of hand and escalating into something which could be both time consuming and expensive for employers. We aim to show how to spot issues as they arise and manage them to a successful conclusion.”
Speaking about the retirement aspect of the seminar, Peter went on to say that many employers were confused about what they could and could not do:
“Since the removal of the Default Retirement Age, some employers believe that they cannot retire and employee at whatever age. This is not the case, and in certain circumstances it can be done. We will explain the procedures involved and hopefully clear up some of the confusion.”
