Seminar focuses on Care Home needs 22/09/2009

The ageing population is adding pressures on an already stretched care system and making those involved in the industry look at new ways of meeting the challenges of both running a business and keeping up to speed with Government policy.

Thats the subject of a seminar aimed at care home managers and owners by city based Roythornes Christmas Solicitors and financial advisers Riverglen Financial Associates, at which one of the contributors to the Governments latest Green Paper on care will give an update on the latest thinking.

The seminar, which takes place on 30th September at Roythornes new Spalding offices aims to give care home managers and owners an update on key areas of the law and developments in funding, affecting them and their clients.

Phil Cookson from Roythornes will speak on Health and Safety and give a brief employment law update, whilst fellow Partner Graham England will highlight recent developments in Wills and also Lasting Powers of attorneys, which enable individuals to say how their affairs will be managed when they are not able to do so.

Riverglen Financial Associates will then look at care fees planning and the latest methods of funding care and will introduce Brian Fisher from Axa, who sat on the working party which helped to draft the Governments latest Green Paper on care funding, and he will be giving an insight into the proposals made, which the government are now considering.

Speaking about the seminar, Graham England said

With an ageing population, care home managers and individuals need to be thinking about where future funding for care is to come from.  The demand for care will certainly increase and efficient funding planning will be key to this sectors survival.

At the same time, the owners and managers have numerous responsibilities in relation to their employees and clients, and our brief update will highlight the most important aspects of this.

Any care home owners or managers who would like to attend the seminar should contact Mark Dodds at Roythornes on 01775 842596.
