| Major research amongst social housing providers has shown that the sector has significant challenge 24/02/2009 The research was conducted amongst 450 Chief Executives and Managing Directors of Housing Associations across the UK by city based Roythorne Christmas solicitors. One of the key findings was the reluctance of nearly 60% of respondents to purchase excess developer stock to kick start the housing market - one of a number of proposals put forward by the Government in recent months. Commenting on the research, property Director Robbie ODriscoll said: "In some respects research showed us what we were hearing from our clients. The idea of social housing providers buying up homes which are not selling in the open market is in principle a good one. In fact a number of deals have been done including one by house builder Bovis who sold 379 homes to seven housing associations."
